Mountain Dew Ice – Review

Mountain Dew Ice is a clear, lemon-lime flavored Dew. It is an entirely new variant and, frankly, that means I had to try it. Seeing it on the shelf in store I grabbed one right away. They came in 20 ounce bottles, regular cans, two liter bottles, as well as some tiny cans which my wife picked up for my kids to try too.

Packaging: Mountain Dew Ice has a clear bottle which lets the consumer see this strange, clear Mountain Dew variant. That’s not a bad thing, that’s by design. The simple color schemes help emphasize it’s simple palette of flavors – lemon-lime. It’s simple and works for what it is.

Flavor/Composition: Imagine if they made a high caffeinated Sprite. I’m talking more than a cup of coffee’s caffeine content in a 20 ounce bottle. That’s what this tastes like. It’s much more bubbly than your standard Dew and the lemon-lime flavor combination goes from tasteless to very subtle depending on the sip. Overall, it tastes mostly like a Sprite, but with at times more and at times less flavor. It’s a strange combination, but overall works. I’m not a huge Sprite person, but this variety ended up working.

Conclusion: Like 7-UP/Sprite, but also really enjoy caffeine? Get Mountain Dew Ice. Seriously. That’s the market space this fills. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just not my thing. I’m not a huge fan of Sprite or 7-UP, so while I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it. My kids, on the other hand, lapped it up and really enjoyed it. So, there’s that.

  1. I drink Montain Dew but based on this review it tastes like a high caffeinated version of Sprite/7-Up.

It really does taste like Sprite/7-Up, only a 20 ounce bottle has more caffeine than a cup of coffee! So, worth checking out to see if you like, especially if you enjoy the caffeine boost of soda.
