Matthew’s Favorite Things

It started as a joke…

But, then I realized – the world needed to know. What would be on my list of favorite things. Let us discuss a top 8 counting down from least to most important.

Nintendo 2DS (Target)

Yes, you read that right – the 2DS. Not the 3DS. Why? It’s cheaper. It plays all the 3DS games. It doesn’t have 3D (I despise the 3D functionality of the 3DS). It’s cheaper (did I already mention that). And, honestly, I like the feel of it. It fits well in my adult sized hands compared to a traditional 3DS. I don’t really have much else to say about it. I travel with it when I travel for work. It works well, it holds up well, has a solid battery life, and it does everything I need it to.

Adam’s Headwear Extreme Outdoor Hat (Amazon)

Okay, as a balding dude – I have periodically gotten sunburn on the top of my head. My job requires me to periodically work outdoors. This creates a problem with my head burning and my neck as well. The Adam’s Headwear Extreme Outdoor Hat has been a blessing. It has built in UPF rating which provides it’s own sun protection for transparently white people like me. And at the price, it’s well worth it if you do a lot of outdoor work.

Hamilton Original Broadway Soundtrack (Amazon)

I love musical theater, history, and hip hop – this was a match made in heaven for me. I love the music. I love that it makes me more interested in learning more about the Founding Fathers. No, it’s not historically 100% accurate – but so what, it’s fantastic.

Re-Play No-Spill Cup (Walmart)

I reviewed these in August when my wife picked them up at MommyCon. Since then they have become the primary no-spill cup used for our toddlers. How good are they? I am the type of guy when I find an old sippy cup that had milk in it for longer than it should have, I scrub that thing clean. Normal sippy cups have to be cleaned through the dishwasher after hand cleaning like 2-5 times before that rancid smell is out. These cups? Get out the grossness inside, run through the dishwasher once as normal, no residual smell. No, really. It was an unexpected benefit to these cups I did not know about after only owning them for a month. So, there’s that. I recommend them.

ezpz Happy Mats (ezpz Affiliate Link)

I have become an affiliate for one product ever in my life – that’s ezpz products. My kids nightly use their happy mats (see link for details). They are dinner mats with raised sections to segment out your kid’s food. They also come in bowl form. And…when laid correctly will stick to your table minimizing shift of the plate/tray. They’re helpful and my kids love them. They are a very useful parenting product that my wife and I plug when we can because…they’re that useful.

Mountain Dew Livewire (Target)

Are you like and are you a fiend for Mountain Dew? Do you like orange flavored products? If you said yes to both questions, go out and get yourself a Mountain Dew Livewire. No really, now. Do it. They’re delicious. Love it. So much.

Pajamas with Pockets (Example from Target that I do actually own)

Seriously, hanging out in PJs with pockets is the best. Being able to be comfortable while keeping whatever you need on your person is excellent! Any PJs with pockets will do for me, I just happened to link to my most recent purchase which…well, you’ll see when you click the link.

All The Reese’s Candy! (Example from Amazon)

Seriously – peanut butter and chocolate is a divine combination, gifted to us measly humans by the Lord Himself. I love all of the Reese’s chocolate candy…Reese’s Pieces can come too.

So, there it is. Some of my favorite things. Is my list ridiculous? Is it amazing? Did I point you to something amazing you never heard of? And, as importantly, what would be on your list?
